Whole Body Vibration (WBV)

What is whole body vibration?

Whole Body Vibration (WBV) is an innovative therapy approach that uses gentle vibrations to stimulate muscles and the sensory system. One of the most established devices for WBV is the Galileo platform, where children stand, sit or are positioned while vibrations travel through the body. These vibrations trigger small, repeated muscle contractions which help build strength and stability.

Who is it for?

WBV is particularly useful for children with cerebral palsy and other neurological conditions. It can support strength, balance, coordination and sensory processing in a way that is engaging and motivating. Alongside larger platforms, we also use portable vibration cushions, and we can recommend suitable devices for families to use at home. StarPhysio also has a Galileo platform available for hire, allowing families to experience the benefits of WBV without needing to purchase equipment.
When integrated into physiotherapy sessions, WBV can help children practise new skills, experience new sensory input and enjoy therapy in a playful way.
