Training for families, care teams and schools
We offer training and teaching packages in all areas of our specialist practice: aquatic therapy (hydrotherapy), 24-hour postural management and support of therapeutic programs. We can offer these as packages or bespoke programs of training to families, nurseries, schools, residential units or care teams.
Aquatic therapy training
Aquatic therapy is a treatment that can release movement and functional potential, it is particularly beneficial to children with a complex physical disability or as part of a 24-hour postural regime. We are able to demonstrate and devise simple programs that are safe and can be carried out by a carer/care team.
We are able to offer:
1:1 Training
1: 1 sessions with clients and/or a carer to prescribe and support the implementation of a water program. Sessions include health screening, a written program with digital images if appropriate.
3:1 Training
3:1 sessions with carers/clients to prescribe and support the implementation of a group water program. Sessions include health screening, a written program with digital images if appropriate.
Half day ‘water skills’ workshops
For families, carers and staff in schools which explores the principles and properties of aquatic therapy with a practical element introducing the properties of water and use of planes of movement.
Full day workshops
Same as half day water skills workshop but includes an extra afternoon session spent with the team devising a bespoke water program for a specific child that can be delivered by carers or families for independent use.
Postural management training
This postural management training enables teams and families supporting clients with complex physical needs to feel confident and competent in facilitating 24-hour postural care regimes by making them a valued part of everyday life.

Half day workshops in general postural care training for families, care teams and school staff.
Full day workshops
Bespoke 1 day workshops
Bespoke 1 day workshops tailored to an individual or specific care group – if this is for an individual it would need to be preceded by a full postural assessment and will therefore require 2 days (Please see postural care for details of this assessment).
Paediatric Physiotherapy teaching
The therapeutic training enables care teams and families to feel confident in providing handling and therapeutic programmes to children with developmental and physical needs.
We can offer:
One off sessions and half day workshops in handling, the use of specialist equipment for families, care teams and school staff.
Half day workshops
Workshops in handling and treatment skills for families, care teams and school staff.
Full day workshops
Therapy workshops including a practical session to promote and use movement strategies in the classroom, home or community environment.
Bespoke 1 day workshops
Workshops tailored to an individual or specific care group – for an individual it would need to be pre-ceded by a full assessment. It can be integrated into the postural care training.
