WATSU®

WATSU® therapy is a gentle and effective form of aquatic bodywork that can offer a wide range of benefits. If you are looking for a way to relax, reduce stress, and improve your overall well-being it may be a good option for you.

Mark, a recent recipient of Molly’s WATSU® session said: “I actually feel far more relaxed and connected after WATSU® than after a full body massage, I can’t recommend it enough and have been telling all and sundry about its benefits!”

What is WATSU® therapy?
WATSU® is a form of aquatic bodywork that combines elements of massage, shiatsu and dance. It is performed in warm water (typically 95°F or 35°C) by a trained practitioner who gently cradles, moves, stretches, and massages the client’s body. WATSU® therapy has a wide range of benefits, including: deep relaxation, reduced stress and anxiety, increased range of motion, improved circulation, relief from pain, enhanced physical and emotional well-being.

Who can benefit from WATSU® therapy?
WATSU® therapy is a gentle and safe therapy that can be beneficial for people of all ages and fitness levels. How does Watsu therapy work?
The warm water of the pool helps to relax the body’s muscles and tissues, making it easier for the practitioner to move the client’s body in gentle, flowing motions. The buoyancy of the water also helps to support the client’s weight, so they can feel weightless and supported. The practitioner uses a variety of techniques to massage, stretch, and move the client’s body. These techniques may include: gentle rocking and swaying, circular movements, stretches, pressure points and massage. The practitioner will tailor the session to the individual client’s needs and preferences.

How long does a WATSU® therapy session last?
A typical WATSU® therapy session lasts for 45-60 minutes to include time for discussion as well as time in the water.

What else do I need to know?
Before a WATSU® therapy session you may be asked to fill out a health history form. You should let the practitioner know if you have any allergies or injuries. After a WATSU® therapy session, you may feel relaxed, refreshed and energised. You may also experience some muscle soreness, which is normal.
